High-end Home Entertainment Systems are often tedious to set up because there are lots of components included in the package. Even decent 5.1-speaker systems like the Bose V35 include several components but Bose has the audio technologies as their advantage and you may need to set up those sophisticated 7.1-speaker systems if you want to match that sound quality. In addition, easy setup is one of the main focuses of the Bose V35 home entertainment system. The high price is the intimidating factor so it is important to know what you are really getting out of this ambitious 5.1-speaker package.

            Components

The Bose V35 is an upgraded version of the Bose V25 with the main difference being the speakers that the home theater system comes with. While the Lifestyle V25 speakers measure 4x3x6.25 inches, the Lifestyle V35 speakers are smaller in every dimension measuring 3.25x2.25x4.5 inches.

Bose calls these speakers the Jewel Cube speakers and they actually have the same Direct/Reflecting properties as the speakers in the V25 system so the sound can bounce off of the walls to produce livelier sounds. The Acoustimass module is the same Bose V25 model which isn't surprising because the module does its job very well in handling those lower frequencies.

It also comes with the ADAPTiQ audio calibration system which is in charge of configuring each of the speakers for you. It is best that you take advantage of this feature because speaker configurations vary depending on how you physically set them up and how big or small the room is. This calibration system knows how to consider these attributes so the best settings are applied.

The remote that is included in the Bose V35 system has some tricks of its own too. It has less buttons than the average home theater remote and it even has an LCD display to make it easier to control various devices. Its universal nature means that you can control virtually any other device that can receive infrared signals.

            Features and Technologies

One of the biggest improvements of the Bose V35 over past models is the new Unify intelligent integration system which utilizes your TV display for presenting the interface. You can use this refined interface to get started immediately once you made the physical connections. This means you can figure out how you want to use the 6 HD connections and let the step-by-step onscreen guide do the rest. Common configurations normally involve game consoles and Blu-ray players.

The Bose V35 comes with a nifty technology that can boost the quality of any DVD player connected via HDMI. So that doesn't mean that DVD players should be left out of the mix. It is an upscaling technology that can upconvert any DVD playing back to 1080p so you can enjoy those high resolution visuals even if you do not have Blu-ray media.

DVDs and other media can also gain an audio enhancement through the Videostage 5 technology which converts those stereo or monaural sources into surround sound so your 5.1-speaker configuration is put to optimal usage.

            Extra Features

The Bose T20 has some similar features to the Bose V35 and it costs a lot less. However, the Bose V35 has a few extra features and a significant advantage when it comes to flexibility. The V35 can receive radio signals thanks to the AM/FM tuner. You can also plug an iPod or iPhone to the dock accessory that it comes with so those MP3s get the proprietary Bose technologies. You can even use the LCD universal remote to control these Apple portables from a distance.

Bose link is another feature that the budget 5.1-channel systems lack and it is the one technology you need if you want to set up a speaker system in another room without getting another media console. This feature provides the necessary connectivity to expand your sound field to several rooms as long as you buy the accessories. Your mileage will vary depending on the set of accessories you get. For instance, you can use the Lifestyle RoomMate expansion to provide sound to a small room as it only consists of a single slim speaker.

You can add additional Jewel Cube speakers as well as another Acoustimass module to the Bose V35 by getting the Lifestyle Homewide powered speaker system. This type of extension is more ideal for the larger rooms.

However, the Direct/Reflecting technology isn't ideal for open environments since the sound cannot bounce to create a better sound field. Therefore you will need a set of special speakers called the 251 environmental speakers. This set of accessories also comes with the Lifestyle SA-3 amplifier so the environmental speakers are even more effective and can widen the sound field.

This level of intensity is needed if you want to extend your Bose V35 to the backyard or patio. Unlike other Bose speakers, you can mount the environmental speakers to a wall if necessary. Any accessory set you decide to purchase comes with an additional remote you won't have to take your primary remote to other rooms just in case they need adjustments.

The Bose V35 comes with a massive $2,969 price tag but you can only notice its worthwhile value if you really take all of the features into account and that includes the smaller Jewel Case speakers as well. There are more setup possibilities thanks to the small speakers and you get no compromise in audio quality either. It is an excellent system to get if you have some plans to add an audio experience to other rooms in the house.

Although the extra speakers are quite pricey, you will actually save some money once you decide to expand because you no longer need to buy separate 2.1-channel or 5.1-channel home theater systems. The rest of the quality audio and video technologies stack up well against the competition making the Bose V35 an excellent home entertainment system for large living rooms that demand a high-end audio and video experience.
